Las Vegas
Yea! A trip with friends!
Janet, Julie and I hit Las Vegas March 13 – 15. I can’t say that I love Las Vegas, but I CAN say that I love Janet and Julie, and I love time spent visiting with my friends and seeing new things. This is basically what this trip is all about.
For years (2002 through 2006 – 5 years) we did this every year. I think we were all too busy in 2007 & 2008. In 2009, Janet and I went to Winnemucca to see Julie. I am happy that we got to go to ‘Vegas again this spring!
We stayed at the Luxor this year…Julie actually got us a room in the pyramid. Most of the time we were there, the weather was chilly and windy, so we didn’t get in the pool. We walked around the Strip on the last day, since it actually warmed up to 70° for us. We did a little shopping, and a little eating. We went to the Bellagio, and saw the exhibit they had with giant flowers and mushrooms, and ‘Sculpted European Olive Trees’. I am not sure what the exhibit was really all about, but it was interesting, and some good photos were taken.
Bellagio Exhibit:
Also while we were there, we went to the ‘Bodies’ exhibit (at Luxor). It was awesome! If they had allowed cameras anywhere NEAR the exhibition (which they didn’t), you['d be seeing lots of pictures of muscles, nervous systems, bones, etc. The exhibit was fascinating. All I was allowed to take a photo of was the outside of it.
It really was a great trip, although short. I really want to do this EVERY year until I am old and (more) wrinkly, and can no longer move easily.

You really did cram a lot of excellent, enjoyable things into your weekend. Don’t know that I could have gone to Bodies. Just to realize that these were once human beings make it difficult to consider. The Bellagio exhibit was interesting and you got some great photos. Glad you were able to go.
Sweeet. You got it fixed!
Nice photos, as always! I didn’t realize they had so many cool exhibits in Vegas. Was there an entry fee for these, or do you just wander on over? Maybe next time my sister flies into LV, I’ll drive over and check a couple of them out.
Thanks for sharing your photos Katie! I especially like the exhibit in the gardens with the giant flowers, insects and mushrooms!!!
Peace, Love & Happiness,
Magpie
Always nice to get together with friends. It really doesn’t always matter what we do with the time it’s just time well spent. Glad you had the time.
sweet. glad u had fun.
That sounds like you guys had such a great time! Though I’m sorry, only getting to the 70′s isn’t going to get much sympathy from someone in Logan right now, I can imagine it must have been a slight let down from expectations. Hope things are going well for you and everyone else! Talk to you soon!
Looks like you had fun! We should do something together one of these days!
Thanks for reading, guys!
Sonja (AKA ‘mom’) – It was a great trip! We did have fun, and it’s hard NOT to cram a bunch into a short time, when that’s all you have.
Robyn – You should definitely check out the exhibits! The atrium at the Bellagio (where all the gargantuan flowers are right now) is free, and you just walk in and check it out. Bodies, on the other hand, was NOT free…$30. YOW! It was great, though…
Maggie – The huge flowers were great! They reminded me of the rose parade!
Lorraine – I agree. It really doesn’t matter what you do. Just seeing my friends is enough…and we ALWAYS have fun.
Barge – THANKS FOR COMMENTING!! We did have fun. It was great! Maybe I can see YOU sometime this YEAR. Heh heh heh.
Rachel – The problem wasn’t the one day it barely got to 70 – it was the other 2 days of wind and NOT 70. he he he. Thanks for stopping by!
Audrey – YES!!! I’d love to see you! I will call you soon. I haven’t been great at being ANYONE’s friend lately.
Happy spring, everyone!
I didn’t know you got to see the Bodies exhibit. I would love to see that. I’ve also never seen a real olive tree. You three look very happy in all of the pictures. You can tell me more about Vegas on Weds.
It’s spring now. Time to change that winter scene at the top of your blog. It depresses me.
yeah, katie! glad you had a great time with your friends! hope you get to do it more often. time with the girlfriends is the best! always fun to see the goings on in your world! looking forward to more!
The exhibit of the giant flowers and mushrooms looks like interesting. It’s good to meet with friends and spend time with just them. That’s always a good time.
